“Crafted Counsel” is a remote international residency program (Persian-English) that responds to the needs of performers’ sensual, institutional, and digital bodies during critical transformations in production times. Since its inception in 2017, the program has supported numerous artists, free from the constraints of traditional residencies—such as deadlines and concrete outputs—to build internal capacity and hone their choices while navigating the challenges of displacement, misrepresentation, tokenization, and other forms of institutional violence in writings, rehearsals, performances, and discussions. Each residency process is carefully tailored in collaboration with the resident based on their individual circumstances, providing space for profound expression, listening, and alignment in physical, mental, and linguistic modes.
